New Music Friday #2: Black River Drive
Because we all need new music for a weekend…
From: Auckland, NZ
Who: Sam Browne (Guitar/Vox), Russell McNaughton (Bass), Mike Tan (Drums) and Matt Stone (Guitar/Keyboard)
The Scoop: A great mainstream (in a good way) rock sound from a band who have recorded a single in the Kiwi music scene’s ubiquitous York Street Studios. There is a great hint of electro underpinning the sound & giving it a hint of epic. Definitely driving music.
The boys got together in 2008 and are now getting airplay on radio stations we like such as The Rock & The Edge.
Look out for a debut album in spring. I’m hoping there is more like ‘Everywhere’.
Shuffle with: New Order, The Feelers, Toad the Wet Sprocket
Play on: Friday while driving home

Next gig: 9th July @ Sale Street, AKL
If you want to suggest some new music to put here in the future - just send me a message through the site.

Hey, just wanted to say I went and saw these guys after reading this a few weeks ago & WAS NOT disappointed. Keep up the good work I will keep an eye on what is here in the future.
Hi Ande,
Just stumbled over this, thanks a lot for letting people know about “Everywhere”. We’ve since recorded and released our second single, “Bullet for your gun”. You can check it out on our myspace, our facebook page or (with accompanying video) at our youtube channel.

We are currently working towards an album release scheduled (somewhat optimistically) for May/Jun 2010, with a nationwide tour to follow in July.
We check and respond to all comments on our facebook fan page several times a day.
Cheers
