Competitive Advantage
This time of year naturally leads us to think about some of the things that we are going to do next year.
Some of these are proactive tactics to move things forwards based on what will be please your customers. But if you are in a dogfight with a competitor then there are times when the first goal is create some distance (revenue wise, perceptually or in your customer offer) between you and them.
A question I am reminded off when this is the scenario is what a football coach used to say to me. “What would our competitors least like us to do?”
This is really helpful for putting yourself in their shoes and and looking at your situation through their lens. And when you do that can identify something that would really make life difficult.
Because that may well be very worth doing in 2010.
